Group Counselling

Counseling for group therapy is often done by categorizing the people as per their ailment. Teen therapy is more of a discussion as they are extremely sensitive to suggestions. Games and play way method is suggested in the Human resource initiative to also affect counseling and asses the skills of a person which is also an applied from of testing in counseling.

A group of people also works to have an interactive session. This leads to automatic discussions which are based on self analysis. People come out in the open to discuss their coping skills and the counselor intervenes accordingly to get plausible results. The idea is not to expose sensitivity but also express their concern and believe that this is just a phase. This especially works during parenting counseling often done in schools and parents realized they can learn from one another.

Addiction therapy can also be a group effort whereby a brief introduction makes the group comfortable with each other. Mock tests and games also induce humor to allow the people to intermingle with each other. If the objective is not being achieved, then the counselor may intervene and the format of the therapy will need to be adapted.

Adoptive centers or marriage counselors also give their suggestion in a group therapy. As the situation in each case has a commanilty, the rules in case of adoption can be easily communicated to a group. The group is also presented with legal obligations and certain inbound rules of the centre before the adoption is allowed. Marriage counseling in groups depends upon the comfort level of the couples. In many stages, family counseling is very much suggested in a group counseling as the problems get solved easily.

Certain counseling therapies require a group effort with mock tests, role plays and pseudo games to highlight a particular problem. Charitable associations conduct group counseling through their counseling center for the underprivileged class and also tour rural destination to reach a large audience to solve socio-cultural problems.
